And the waiting... and waiting
So, good news and bad news. Want the bad first? I am still hammering out the last details for the future home of Miss Cupcake. Good news THERE WILL BE A MISS CUPCAKES BAKERY!!!. Yes Yes i know, you already knew that right? Wrong! When opening up a business every day can bring a piece of news that could break the whole deal. Thankfully lately the decent to good news keeps coming. However, if you think you can avoid the tedious bull-shit (please excuse my language) you my dear are mistaken... So i thought we were all on our way to signing the lease and getting in the doors, when the brokers came back with requests for more documentation. In my hunger rage i quote " This would have been nice to know i needed last WEEK!!!!!" My dear broker had to calm me down yet again ( :-) he he) So in the mean time so you know i am ready. I want to provide you all with delish bakery, but alas we must wait yet again for the finalization of the deal. But let me tell you... you will know!!! I will be shouting from the roof top!!! Well actually no, roof tops and heels don't really go together but side walks heels and Champagne do!! Woot Woot!

New Week, new attempts
Its the Middle of March, and I am still trying to get things moving along. Last week was equivalent to a Nascar race. Things were going around in a big circle super fast, and like the races just going around and around and around, and not really getting anywhere. I hope that this week will bring some more concrete revelations for the Bakery. More meetings, and more talking to contractors, and hopefully settling agreements with the space, so I can ANNOUNCE OUR FUTURE LOCATION!!!!! I swear that one of these days when people ask me how is the bakery coming along I can say, well we have the space and are under construction. But until that day comes you get this:
I wanted to go about opening this bakery in the most seamless way possible. By that I mean, I brought in the local inspectors to the space to check it out and let me know concerns and or requirements that they are looking for and that I must have in order to open. The TWO bits of this are the HOOD and the ADA Bathroom. If you were to ask me about these two things, I can pretty much guarantee the two reactions that you will get from me; 1. I will scoff and roll my eyes then continue to explain the situation, or 2. I will cry. LOL no fail. it is one of the two. Each issue is such a battle, as well as costly. VERY costly. So this weeks battle is to build a case for the bakery that we indeed do NOT need a hood, and to figure out the deal with grandfathering in bathrooms. (On a personal side note: when you people go into a public restroom in a bakery/cafe or restaurant, be thankful if it is nice a roomy... I can bet you that that business owner suffered loss of sleep/ dizziness/ crying all over that bathroom... OK maybe not but I have!) Who knew bathrooms could cause such a tizzy in ones life?!?! Yup so I hope this week isn't crappy... because if it is It better happen in an ADA compliant bathroom only. ba dum bump

Time Line
If any of you have undertaken a large project, you understand that it is good to start out with the plan, and in my case the business plan. Then when things really get rolling and financing is secured, you need to make a time line. A project time line is extremely important to the progression of any project. It keeps you on cue and also provides the needed steps to move forward, and clearly states it for all parties involved. Note: Today is March 6th. Now look at the timeline...
Like Father like daughter
I have heard many a people in businesss say " Do not do business with friends or family, it can get ugly" Well my friends, I do undterstand why you shouldnt, or why you should avoid it, but in my case it was unavoidable! I hired my dad to do the build out and be the general contractor on the bakery... MUAHAHAHAH - Insert evil laugh- (what a roll reversal right?!?) Now, I LOVE my dad. I do, but this is going to be very trying for the both of us. He is an amazing builder and extremely smart, and like father like daughter, we dont back down, which means we dont like to admit we are wrong so we will argue until we each personally feel that we are victorious or B: until we storm out on each other. So if you can imagine I hired my dad to do all this work, and I pretty much told him he has to work for free, for now, and for cookies, and he has been busting his hump. Also might I add that becuase I live with my parents, when I need something or need to know information like buildout cost, and numbers on various items around the bakery , HE CANT HIDE FROM ME!! Haha yes, Im pretty sure that when he hears the door close and "DADDY!?" he cringes or as in recent happenings has resorted to fake sleeping in his chair. Ok, he probably was tired and actually sleeping, but I wouldnt put it past him to fake sleep so does not have to talk yet again about questions about the same things. I just thought that this was information that should be known for future reference come the video blogs. Wish us luck... we are gonna need it!
